The Catholic Youth Center is also a popular rest stop for hikers. It's self-service, but the prices are reasonable. There are also several rooms available for rent for events.

The large information panel in front of the castle marks the start of the historical trail. The first image is a reconstruction of the castle as it was built in 1482. A moat with a drawbridge and a surrounding wall (still standing today) with corner towers enclosed the inner courtyard with its buildings and a residential tower.

The Liebenau Castle ruins are the remains of a former hilltop castle at the top of a ridge between the Autmut and Neckar valleys. Around 1300, the castle was owned by the ministerial family of Liebenau, but after changing hands several times, it had already fallen into ruin a hundred years later. A "milites de Liebenowe" is mentioned in 1270, a Berthold von Altingen in 1368, and later a von Speth. Of the castle site, which was surrounded on three sides by a moat on a castle hill with a diameter of approximately 30 meters, only a rampart, moat, and foundations remain.

Barbecue area with a beautiful view towards the Swabian Alps and Hohenneuffen Castle. The barbecue area is located directly next to the Liebenau Castle ruins, although only a few remnants of this former hilltop castle, such as the moat, remain.

From the barbecue area, you'll enjoy a fantastic view of the Hohenneuffen Castle ruins looming on the horizon. Nothing of note remains of the Liebenau ruins themselves. The barbecue area is open to the public except during flight operations by the Neckartailfingen Air Force Base, which has its headquarters up here.

Pretty cool here! - Sometimes you even get lucky enough to see model airplane pilots showing off their skills :)

At the Liebenau Castle ruins, there is a very nice barbecue area with seating. From here, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the valley. The MFG Neckartailfingen airfield is also located here, on the hill near the former Liebenau Castle. A rampart, moat, and foundations of Liebenau Castle, which fell into disrepair around 1400, are still preserved. This castle is located in the forest behind the barbecue area.

Unfortunately, we could not discover anything of Waldhäuser Castle except for the information boards on site.
