The museum is very informative, and the open-air museum is even more so, all for 3.50. I can highly recommend a bush.

Groß Raden was first mentioned in 1256, but already had a church by then. The church, dating from the first half of the 14th century, is a three-bay, vaulted hall with a straight choir and a squat west tower, whose ridge is the same height as the nave. The tower room is used for visitors, many of whom come to Groß Raden for the nearby open-air museum, and provides information about the church and its bells.

The Groß Raden Archaeological Open-Air Museum is located a few kilometers north of the small town of Sternberg and about one kilometer northeast of the village of Groß Raden in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in a lowland area that borders directly on the Groß Radener Lake. The circular castle wall with a diameter of 50 meters, visible from afar, is located on an offshore peninsula. Extensive excavations took place here between 1973 and 1980 under the direction of Ewald Schuldt, during which the remains of a Slavic settlement from the 9th and 10th centuries were uncovered. The castle complex was reconstructed based on the excavations and set up as an archaeological open-air museum. Findings from the Slavic castle of Behren-Lübchin were also used. In 1871, the well-known architect Martin Haller (who built the Hamburg town hall, among other things) built the manor house in the classical style for Johannes Hillmann. It was the center of a fairly large estate (513 hectares). After the fall of the Berlin Wall, it was a hotel for a few years; it is now privately owned.
