9月 13, 2025, Elbe Ferry Lenzen
Luckily, this ferry was running despite the low tide. So I was able to complete my trip as planned. Tip: It's best to call at least a day in advance to check if the ferry is running!

9月 10, 2025, Cycle Path Between Weisen and Perleberg
It's very shady in the summer, and has had top-quality asphalt for two years. The main road isn't an alternative. Unfortunately, it ends abruptly before Perleberg, or rather, it's a forest path.

9月 10, 2025, Gnevsdorf Sluice (Gnevsdorfer Wehr)
The Gnevsdorf Weir is located at the end of the approximately 10km stretch on the island between the receiving waters and the Elbe River. It has been passable again since 2024. Impressive engineering.

8月 2, 2025, Historic Town Center of Kyritz
A small, tranquil town that deserves a visit.

I particularly like the cycle path between the Elbe and the Havel tributaries, from Gnevsdorf to Quitzöbel. It's pure nature. There are two observation towers from which you can easily observe many animals, especially birds. Coming from Wittenberge, cycle over the Gnevsdorf weir and at the oxbow weir, return to the mainland to Quitzöbel, then cycle back to Wittenberge or to Netzow and then on to Werben and Havelberg.

7月 14, 2025, Elbe Bend in Brandenburgische Elbtalaue
Here you can at least see the Elbe, which is largely not possible on the western Elbe Cycle Route in Lower Saxony.

6月 6, 2025, Elbe Ferry Lenzen
Here you can cross the Elbe by ferry. It takes 1-2 minutes and costs 2 euros per adult and bicycle. Very nice and convenient.

5月 24, 2025, Kyritz Market Square
Historic market square and city center with a "historic" GDR department store, which is now used by a real estate company.

4月 24, 2025, Bork–Stolpe Cycle Path
Along the cycle path are a chain of lakes, including the Obersee, which you can cycle to directly. But be careful, you have to find your way.

4月 22, 2025, Stadtpark Perleberg
It's a great place to take a breather, with both sunny and shady spots. A nearby supermarket provides food and drinks, perfect for a short or longer break.

12月 16, 2024, Historic Old Town of Perleberg
Perleberg is a picturesque little town with a historic old town and is located in the heart of the Prignitz. The town has many well-preserved half-timbered houses, cobbled streets and a charming town centre. The market square is the centre of the old town and is dominated by the imposing town hall from the Renaissance period. The Roland statue on the market square is one of the town's landmarks and symbolises the town charter granted in 1239. The Stepenitz river meanders through the town and creates idyllic places that invite you to linger. The rural surroundings are ideal for cycling tours, especially in the Elbe Valley nature reserve. Perleberg is a town that impresses with its history, its closeness to nature and its quiet charm. It is worth visiting as a destination for a tour or as a short detour.

8月 23, 2024, Bürgerhaus Kyritz
The house on the western side of the Kyritz market square is one of the most important town houses in the state of Brandenburg. It is one of the few surviving architectural witnesses from the second half of the 17th century. The inscription above the entrance dates the building to 1663. The early baroque building, originally more of a storehouse and warehouse than a residential building, is strongly based on the North German half-timbered style. Over the centuries, the house has been structurally altered several times. The oak half-timbered construction from the time of construction (1663) has largely been preserved. In 2002/2003, the half-timbered house, including the outbuilding, was completely renovated. Over the centuries, the property has had different owners. The name "Eichhorstsches Haus" goes back to master baker Georg Eichhorst, who acquired the property at the end of the 19th century. It remained in the family's possession until after World War II, and in the 1990s it was returned to the Eichhorst heirs. A bakery (Hausbalk Bakery) is still located in the house today.
