A fantastic forest playground is located near the Holzhausen flood protection area. With a lot of imagination, seating circles made of tree stumps, wooden houses, a wooden kitchenette, and more have been created for the little ones. Great idea!

Since 1991, the challenging 9-hole golf course at Schloss Igling has stretched out amidst picturesque parkland. The stylish club rooms, pro shop, and administration office are harmoniously housed in the castle's historic outbuildings. A special highlight is the putting practice green, picturesquely situated in the former castle moat. A charming wooden bridge leads you to the first tee or the driving range. Experience golf at the highest level in a unique setting.

The flood retention basin near Holzhausen in Igling was officially inaugurated on April 23, 2024, and is now operational. It serves to protect the communities of Schwabmünchen, Langerringen, Lamerdingen, Großaitingen, and Bobingen from flooding of the Singold River, particularly in the event of a once-in-a-century flood. The basin, located within the municipality of Igling, has a storage capacity of up to 890,000 cubic meters and is formed by a 750-meter-long earth dam and a reinforced concrete throttling structure. The project costs approximately seven million euros, with the Free State of Bavaria and the benefiting municipalities each contributing half. Construction work was completed, with only a few remaining tasks, and reforestation measures were carried out in spring 2024. The basin was 86 percent full at the beginning of June 2024, when it first fulfilled its function during a flood event. Planning for the project took over 20 years and was delayed by numerous lawsuits and discussions.

During World War II, the castle was confiscated by the SS and, after the war, served as an outpost of the Landsberg prison, where the Americans housed war criminals. Refugees were then housed in the castle. The owner, Count Ludwig von Maldeghem, gave a large portion of his land in the village to the local community due to the housing shortage caused, in no small part, by refugees. The dilapidated castle was completely renovated from the ground up at the instigation of Count Ludwig von Maldeghem starting in 1970, and a 9-hole golf course was built around it in the early 1990s. The castle remains owned by the Counts of Maldeghem and is not open to the public.

The popular name of the Chapel of the Visitation of Mary comes from the fact that its entire interior is lined with white birch bark. Maria Fugger, Countess of Rudolfshausen Castle, had it built of wood in 1620. It was rebuilt in 1704 and a brick sanctuary was added in 1856. The central focal point is the miraculous image of the seated Virgin Mary from the first half of the 17th century, flanked by silver statues of Saints Leonard and Wendelin.
