The church may have been built in the High Middle Ages. Larger conversion measures probably took place around 1500. Renovations took place mainly in the years 1785 and 1979/80. In the late 17th century, the Catholics probably received the right to use the church, which had been a Lutheran church since the mid-16th century. However, up until the 1960s, disputes between Protestants and Catholics over church services and church furnishings continued to arise. Since October 6, 1980, a contract of use has regulated the rights and obligations of the two denominations in the simultaneous church, which has been owned by the political community for over 200 years.
