The museum, founded in 1911, is one of the oldest museum villages in Germany. A visit to the museum with over 25 residential and commercial buildings is extremely worthwhile and highly recommended.

Founded in 1932, the Johann Friedrich Danneil Museum is an important historical collection and research center in the western Altmark, emerging from the collections of the Altmark Historical Society founded in 1836.
