The Romanesque former monastery church of St. Blaise and Mary significantly shapes the appearance of the town of Fredelsloh. After the dissolution of the Augustinian Canons' Convent and later the Canons' Convent (founded in 1132) as a result of the Reformation, the large Romanesque basilica became too large for the congregation and was structurally divided inside. As a result, it appears complete from the outside, but somewhat peculiar on the inside. 😉

The coffee roastery and café are highly recommended! The food was absolutely delicious. Besides the coffee, they also offer a variety of regional specialties.

Unfortunately, it's probably closed for the longer term. 🤷‍♂️

The 12th-century Romanesque church is distinguished by its twin towers, which are visible from afar when walking through Fredelsloh. It is the preserved core of a larger monastery complex. The walls are made of Weser sandstone. The monastery existed until the Thirty Years' War. After that, the complex fell into disrepair – the church was even partially used as a mere granary.
