Beautiful crossing over the Haldenwanger Bach. Two options: a) Use the bridge or, like a pensioner, speed through the ford -> resulting in wet feet. You'll be cursed.

The valley was settled around 1270 by Walsers, an ethnic group that migrated from the upper Valais (Switzerland). The dialect has been preserved quite well and differs significantly from its neighbors in Vorarlberg and Allgäu. With its approximately 5,000 inhabitants, the valley is divided into three villages: Riezlern, Hirschegg & Mittelberg with Baad. The Kleinwalsertal covers an area of 97 km². It is about 15 km long and about 6.5 km wide

The Walmendingerhorn cable car takes hikers up the mountain or into the valley in around five and a half minutes. The ride up is not cheap, but it is worth it. It is not for nothing that the Walmendinger Horn, at 1990 m, is also called the mountain of the senses. From the summit you can enjoy a wonderful 360-degree panoramic view of the three countries. At the mountain station at almost 1946 m, a viewing platform with a glass elevator offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the two-country corner and up to the peaks of the Swiss Confederation.

The Alpe Breitengehren is a wonderful place to stop for a break. Beautifully located in the Rappenalptal!
