The Mainz South Bridge (also known as the Mainz-South Railway Bridge, and at times as the Mainz-Gustavsburg Railway Bridge) is a railway bridge on the Mainz–Frankfurt railway line, spanning the Rhine at river kilometer 496.4 and connecting Mainz in Rhineland-Palatinate with Gustavsburg in Hesse. A footbridge attached to the north side of the bridge allows pedestrians and cyclists to cross the river.

A very popular cycle motorway on weekends in summer. From now on in November you often drive for kilometers here without meeting a cyclist. Nature is unspectacular, but not without charm. From time to time it is worth driving a section up on the dam, because then you can look over the dike into the much more interesting nature towards the Rhine.

You feel like you are on the coast, at least here the wind can blow quite well😎

Nice to look at and good to go

During high tide, the Main level adapts to the height of the Rhine up to the first barrage. There is not much to see from the Mainspitze on either side of the river.

In many places you can linger for a break, even as with the flood in July 2021, the areas near the shore are still accessible.
