Football stadium in Bremen from SV Werder Bremen The history of the Bremen Weserstadion goes back to 1909, when a simple sports field with wooden stands was built here. After the turmoil during the war, it was reopened in 1947 and was also used for cycling races and equestrian tournaments. Numerous expansion measures followed in the 60s, 70s and 80s, for example the famous floodlight masts were installed. It was also used as an athletics stadium, especially in the 90s, and was also adapted to modern times with changing rooms, boxes and heated pitches. It is located directly on the banks of the Weser in the Pauliner Marsch. The Weserstadion is the football stadium of the Werder Bremen football club. It is located directly on the right bank of the Weser river, which gives it its name, in the Pauliner Marsch, a floodplain in front of the Osterdeich in the Östliche Vorstadt district of Peterswerder.
