The Weipelsdorf Forest was owned by Bamberg monasteries and foundations for centuries. For approximately 200 years, the entire forest has been owned by the Bamberg Citizens' Hospital Foundation. The first Carmelite monastery with a church stood here from 1248 to 1589.
