The bench and the view are great for a short rest

Beautiful rest area with barefoot course and view of Halberstadt.

On Halberstadt's market square, near the city information center, is a bronze cast model of Halberstadt. It depicts what the city looked like in 1930, before its destruction in World War II. This allows even the visually impaired and blind to experience the city as it was about 100 years ago. Even for the sighted, the city's dimensions and new buildings become clearer.

In the past, such good water bubbled from the Klus Mountains that it was even used to make soda. However, since the Halberstadt Klus Waterworks drilled deep wells here and supplied Harsleben, among others, with cold water so that it practically trickles from the tap, this spring has dried up.

In 2017, the rocks were cleared, but now the view is once again severely restricted by the fast-growing birch trees.

The Ypsilanti spring was once a spring sanctuary for our ancestors. It fed a stream that powered a mill. Around 1850 it was named Ypsilanti after a Greek freedom fighter and received a memorial stone that can still be seen today.
