According to a building inscription on the south side, the church was built in 1583 as a single-nave rectangular building using a west tower from a previous building mentioned in documents in 1262. This tower has paired sound openings on each side, which are divided into two by delicate columns. The nave is accessed through a round-arched south portal, which is probably also older and, according to the capital ornamentation, dates back to the beginning of the 13th century. Inside, the nave is closed off by a beamed ceiling, which is decorated with florally painted beams and is supported by a wooden central support. A two-sided gallery has been installed, the western part of which has passion paintings in the parapets, including coats of arms of the councilors and other prominent people of the city from the mid-17th century.
