There used to be up to 150 sawmills along the streams in the Franconian Forest valleys. The sawmill at the blast furnace in the Steinach Valley ceased operation in 1980.

The new observation tower is modeled after a pine cone. At over 45 meters high, the tower offers views across the Franconian Forest, the Fichtel Mountains, and Thuringia. The ascent leads via an external staircase equipped with generous platforms. Here, visitors can pause for a moment and admire the natural surroundings. At the end of the climb, a viewing platform awaits, offering a breathtaking 360-degree view. For those unable to climb the stairs, there's also a solution: a 360-degree camera at the highest point of the tower allows visitors to admire the view from the comfort of the information center or even online.

More than 200 steps lead up to the final platform of the over 40-meter-high observation tower at Pressecker Knock. On a clear day, you can see from the Fichtel Mountains to Thuringia. The tower is open daily and free of charge. A parking lot is located 150 meters away. At the base of the tower, there are bike racks, lockers, and plenty of great play equipment for young and old.
