Schmerwitz Castle dates back to the 18th century. After the expropriation it was used as a training center for the Soviet Army. The house later housed the central school for combat groups. It has been empty since the fall of communism.

Ziesar Castle is one of the few surviving bishop's residences in Brandenburg. The Niederungsburg is located on the southern edge of the small town of Ziesar, on the eastern bank of the Kobser Bach. The roots of the complex go back to a medieval castle from the 12th century, which was replaced by a new castle after a fire in the 16th century. Over the centuries, this was gradually expanded to its current size. The castle received its Neo-Renaissance appearance during renovation work in the 19th century when it was owned by the von Watzdorf family. Used as a school from 1946 and later as a boarding school, the facility was sold to private investors in 1998.
