The castle in Ziesar is a former bishop's residence from the early 14th century. The well-fortified expansion shows that these were turbulent times. Ziesar Castle is one of the few surviving bishop's residences in Brandenburg. The Niederungsburg is located on the southern edge of the small town of Ziesar, on the eastern bank of the Kobser Bach. Ziesar Castle was the residence of the prince-bishop of the Bishopric of Brandenburg and bishop of the diocese of Brandenburg.
