The Lübeck Trade was an important trade route in the Middle Ages that connected the cities of Lübeck and Hamburg. Several memorial stones along this route commemorate its historical importance.

One of the loveliest hiking routes in the Aukrug Nature Park is without a doubt a long walk from the Boxberg via forest huts along the ponds. The circuit combines a route over the Boxberg with the signposted hiking trail 17. You can expect an eventful hike through lively nature, sights, history and magnificent views. This bench with Nis Puk has been adorning this place since 2021 and invites you to linger. Nis Puk is a legendary figure known in the Danish-German border area. He is welcome because he looks after the house and yard when the residents are not there, but only if the residents treat their children well. He lives in barns and in the attic, but can no longer be seen by adults. And at Christmas he absolutely has to get a bowl of grits, otherwise he'll move on to the next village.
