What an amazing building. An older resident told us that the Allies had an anti-aircraft position here during the war

The Hochdonn railway bridge is located in Schleswig-Holstein. On it the marchway crosses the Kiel Canal. The high bridge was built from 1913 to 1920 as a replacement for a swing bridge, which was approximately 12 km further southwest (coordinates: 53° 55′ 32.2″ N, 9° 12′ 4.4″ E) on the old route of the marsh railway near Taterpfahl crossed the canal. Short crossing ... nevertheless for people who are not from here, a small highlight 👍

The Hochdonn railway bridge is the fourth longest railway bridge in Germany. The bridge was built as a replacement for a swing bridge in Glückstadt. However, after ship heights and rail traffic increased, the railway line was relocated to the Geest ridges near Burg and the crossing at Hochdonn was planned. This required a steel bridge with a length of 2218 m and a height of 56 m, which was opened in 1920. The bridge gained fame through the faecal process, because from the still open outhouses in the trains it regularly rained faeces onto a piece of land under the bridge. The owner sued the railway and was right. Within five years, trains with open toilets were no longer allowed to cross the bridge. Since the railway was unable to meet this deadline, guests were not allowed to use the toilets before crossing the bridge.
