王立ザクセン三角測量（ここでは歴史的な固有名称を使用）は、1862年から1890年にかけてザクセン王国の領土で行われた国家測量であり、同時に三角網が作成されました。 目的は、国の領土を科学的・測地学的に正確に把握し、永続的に標識された固定点を設定することで、正確な地図作成の基礎を築くことでした。 August Nagelによって作成された三角網は、当時世界で最も正確な測量網の一つと見なされていました。 Nagelの柱は今日、技術記念物として保存されています。 Schatzensteinからは、Greifenstein、Scheibenberg、Fichtelberg、Hirschensprung、Auersberg、Hirschenstein、Katzensteinの各観測点を照準しました。 残念ながら、この全景ビューはもう存在しません。

At 561.9 m, the Tabakstanne is the highest point in Thalheim and also the highest point on the B 180 between Thalheim and Stollberg. The name Tabakstanne originally comes from a fir tree that grew there, but it was destroyed by lightning in 1911. There was supposedly always a lighter in a hollow in the tree, so the point where the iron road crosses today's B 180 became a resting place for carters. At the Tabakstanne there is now an education and leisure center of the same name, which was previously used as a restaurant for excursions.
