Headlam is a village in County Durham. and It lies to the west of Darlington. The hamlet has 14 stone houses plus 17th-century Headlam Hall, which is now a country house hotel. The village is set around a village green with a medieval cattle-pound and an old stone packhorse bridge across the beck.

Great road from Darlington through Ingleton towards Staindrop. Cars go quite fast, but it's not too bad and lots of visibility.

Lovely views to the village of Kirby Hill and north towards the Tees from this vantage point. You can see north for miles from up here which is spectacular on a good day and worth the climb to get here.

Ravensworth Castle is a grade II listed building dating from the 14th century but with frequent changes until 1808. It is now in ruins as in 1935 coal was mined directly under the property. The intention was to create a model village from the demolished castle but only three houses were built due to the start of the second world war. Ravensworth Castle featured in the BBC Series, Restoration. Griff Rhys Jones presented the programme in which viewers voted on which neglected ruin should receive a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Sadly it didn't win.

A friendly cafe that serves cakes and hot drinks and a extensive breakfast and lunch menu. The sunday lunch is recommeneded! Open everyday from 10:00 - 15:00. Sunday lunch from 11:30 - 14:00.

This is honestly one of the friendliest places I have stopped for a break very well coming to all cyclists. They are willing to help if you’re ever in need and their snacks are really good which is a big bonus.👌🏼
