A beautiful old castle, unfortunately left to decay. There are old cars and scrap metal on the grounds. Some windows and panes are missing. The castle is under video surveillance.

A trip to the Stein ruins is highly recommended! There's a well-maintained circular trail for hikers, and ample parking beneath the dam for those traveling further afield. Access is via stairs up to the dam or an asphalt ramp. The path to the ruins is well-maintained, but the ruins are not wheelchair accessible. Interestingly, the castle once stood inaccessible on a 40-meter-high cliff above the White Elster River... It still stands there today, but is now flooded to its foundations, and you could dock a canoe directly in the moat.

Voigtsberg Castle was the administrative center of the southern Vogtland for almost 600 years. After its destruction in the Thirty Years' War, Voigtsberg Castle was rebuilt as a palace in 1633.

It's a shame that it's falling into disrepair. We celebrated there.

In the time after the border was opened there was also a restaurant here. But it's been closed for a long time.

In the immediate vicinity of the castle are the ruins of the Horní zámek chateau, which burned down in 1902 and from which extensive remains of the walls have been preserved. The Lower Castle (Dolní zámek) was allowed to fall into disrepair during the Czechoslovak era.
