There is a lot to see at Voigtsberg Castle: The building probably originated around 1200 and has since been expanded several times and used for various purposes. So you can not only take a look at the history of a medieval castle, but also learn more about the mining authority, the prison and the school that were later housed here.

Today you will find three museums in the walls in addition to the historical costume collection and the historical district archive: the carpet museum, the mineral vault and the illusory. You can also enjoy the view and stop off at the restaurant.

With its defiant building, Voigtsberg Castle transports its guests back to bygone times. First owned by the bailiffs of Straßberg and Plauen, later used by the Wettins as an electoral office, it still impresses today with sacred works of art in the Gothic St. George chapel, the castle room with its magnificent baroque ceiling and the carefully preserved architecture of the knight's and Prince's Hall. A valuable Titian painting completes the exhibition. If you dare, you can even get married here. Building on the 140-year history of carpet weaving in the Vogtland, the Oelsnitz Carpet Museum in Voigtsberg Castle is dedicated to the most trampled textile. The treasury in the historic vaulted cellar houses the mineral vault with 400 minerals from the Saxon Vogtland.
