Very nice castle with great grounds. Definitely worth seeing.

Coming from the main street, the front promises a lot. However, you should definitely go further into the palace gardens. The size is gigantic and forms a great backdrop.

The first written mention of Hamborn comes from the 9th century in a document from the monastery of Corvey. Between 1137 and 1140, Hamborn was donated to the Paderborn cathedral chapter (date of the burnt deed of donation according to the Westphalian document book). The result is the obedience of Hamborn. The origins of the castle go back to two estates that were bought by the von Hartmann family in the mid-19th century and combined into one estate. The family built what is now the east wing of the castle.

In 1994 the state horticultural show took place here, and even today the castle with its park and the beautiful and well-tended plants is always worth a visit.

Hamborn Castle offers a nice start for hikes in the surrounding area and afterwards you can stop in the cafe and enjoy the delicious cake in picture quality.

Baroque moated castle which has a long history, built around 1710, almost completely destroyed by fire in 1935. Reconstruction began in the year of the disaster, at great expense and with the help of numerous helpers. In 1963 Franz Anton von Ketteler came into possession of the estate. When major economic difficulties arose, the 8,000-volume library was sold in 1994 and the forest and land holdings in 1995, as was the inventory by Sotheby's. The castle with the outbuildings and the park was acquired by Otto Drosihn in 1998.
