The building was built in 1936/37 as the official residence of the "SS-Burghauptmann" and administrative building. Today it houses the permanent exhibition "ideology and terror of the SS" of the districtism. Here, the history of the local SS activities and the local Niederhagen concentration camp is included in a nationwide general presentation of the SS. The Schutzstaffel (SS), its ideology and its unprecedented crimes are extensively discussed.

The only triangle castle that has since been corrected. The castle is still awesome. Beautiful on a hill - seen from Büren - running the last climb a real task. Very good guides are offered.

The Wewelsburg was rebuilt from 1603 to 1609 in its unique triangular shape in the Weser Renaissance style by Prince-Bishop Dietrich von Fürstenberg, incorporating older buildings. It lies above the Almetal near Paderborn. Today the district museum and a popular youth hostel are located in Wewelsburg.
