This small lake with a rest area and information panel is located in the Barkau region. The area formerly belonged to the monastic estate of Ahrensbök Abbey. In 1735, the village of Barkau was able to buy its freedom from serfdom. "Barkau region" is actually a made-up term coined for the association of eleven neighboring municipalities in the area.

The Maria Magdalenen Church in Flintbek is over 800 years old. The historic building from the 13th century has a simple but beautiful brick architecture. The church is considered an important landmark in the region.

The terraces offer a beautiful view over the lake. In the evening you can see the sunsets on the opposite shore.
