Brændegård Lake is home to one of the largest cormorant colonies in Northern Europe. They arrive from the south in February/March and leave the area in August/September.

The lake right in the center of Ringe town has a good water quality. Benches and meadows on its shores offer beautiful spots for a break. Bathing and fishing is allowed. The maximum depth of the lake is around five meters.

The first Skovlyst restaurant was built in 1926 by farm owner Jens Andersen. He was interested in astronomy and built the 18-meter-high tower behind the restaurant in 1935. A telescope was placed at the top. Today, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Svanninge Bakker from the tower.
