The Golden Triangle is the famous border region in Southeast Asia where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet at the Mekong River. A central attraction is the large, golden Buddha statue seated in a boat overlooking the Mekong. This impressive statue is located in the village of Sop Ruak on the Thai side. The Buddha sits atop an intricately decorated, ship-shaped pedestal, often considered one of the most beautiful photo spots in the region.

The Shwedagon Pagoda is a religious monument of inestimable value. Considered one of the holiest Buddhist structures in Myanmar, the pagoda attracts thousands of visitors annually, drawn by its spiritual significance and impressive architecture. It is not only a center of faith but also a testament to the country's millennia-old history and culture.

The Golden Rock, situated on a mountain massif approximately 1,100 meters high, is one of the most important shrines in Buddhist Myanmar, along with the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon and the Mahamuni Statue in Mandalay.

This is a really nice bikepacking route with beautiful scenery. The road condition is quite bumpy with rocks. Be sure to bring enough food. There is no place for resupply and the way back is always going up on a very rough surface. When the route ends, charter a boat to the Dottawaddy (Myit Nge River). The best time to visit this place is during the open season. That's when the river is clear and the water is green. I made a video about this place.
