It's a dream. You don't need to book snorkeling trips, just put on your mask and fins and dive right in – the reef is right there. But beware, the triggerfish are not to be trifled with; they defend their nests with absolute aggression. They're cone-shaped, so if you accidentally swim into one, immediately send them swimming horizontally away. One bit me, and it hurt like hell. Otherwise, it's a white sandy beach with turquoise water, but water shoes are still recommended.

The diving center offers comfortable diving on the house reef. For this purpose, lead and bottles are brought to the respective entrances (7 pieces). You just have to bring your equipment (without bottles) back yourself. There were boat dives twice a day with two different boats. The check dive was done quickly. Register the day before at 5:00 p.m. and the next day at 10:00 a.m. explanation of the processes in the base and then to the house reef. Gangehi Island Resort ist ein im Nord Ari Atoll zu findendes wundervolles Paradies. Es gehört zu einem der kleinen Resorts, die die Malediven bieten können. Je kleiner, umso besser -finden wir. Die Insel hat eine Größe von ca. 150m x 100m. Bis zur Hauptstadt Male sind es von hier aus ca. 85 km. Der Transfer hierher erfolgt mit dem Speedboot, wahlweise auch mit einem Wasserflieger der Fluggesellschaft TMA. Wir würden immer den Wasserflieger empfehlen. Ein bisschen Abenteuer muss dabei sein 😉. Die Flugzeit beträgt ca. 20 min, hingegen das Speedboot über zwei Stunden benötigt (bei wenig Seegang). Der Wasserflieger legt in der Lagune vor Gangehi an einem kleinen Ponton an, von dem man dann mit einem Dhoni abgeholt wird (ca. 5 min Fahrt). Die Insel steht unter Italienischer Leitung. Italienisch ist hier fast die „Inselsprache“. 😂 Eine langsame Durchwanderung der Insel dauert ca. 30 Minuten bei Mitbenutzung der ca. 800 m langen Sandbank, die sich jeden Tag verändert. Die Bungalows sind modern eingerichtet, aber schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen (Stand: 2020). Leider ist kein malediventypisches offenes Bad vorhanden. Wichtig im Zeitalter der Digitalisierung und des IT-Wahnsinns ist, dass man einen italienischen Steckdosenadapter auf unsere heimische Schukosteckdose mit hat. Das ist das erste Resort, was wir kennengelernt haben, bei dem das so war. Essen einfach traumhaft. Für jeden ist etwas dabei. Natürlich bei einer italienisch geführten Insel auch genügend Pasta in allen Variationen zu bekommen. Wer Vollpension gebucht hat, bekommt jeden Tag eine 1,5 Liter Flasche Trinkwasser auf das Zimmer. Weiterhin gibt es eine volle Karaffe Trinkwasser kostenlos zum Essen dazu. Bei Bedarf auch noch eine weitere. Alle anderen Getränke (bei nicht All In) kosten dann. Weitere Detailinformationen gibt es hier: https://www.gangehi.com Und für alle Taucher unter euch - ein Tauchcenter gibt es hier auch. Leider nicht deutschsprachig, aber mit Englisch kommt man immer weiter. Davide und Nicola sind sehr sympathische Taucher. Und wer von euch noch Nachholbedarf an Manta‘s hat: Bucht Gangehi! Jeder Tauchgang mindestens ein Manta zu sehen!
