It's amazing what old houses still exist

Idstein's old town is one of the most beautiful in the entire Rheingau-Taunus district. Well maintained, quite large, lots of half-timbering, but absolutely no museum village. Thanks to the excellent gastronomy, happy residents and numerous visitors, including international ones, there is always a holiday feeling here, especially on warm summer evenings! But it is always worth a visit even in winter! 😉

The old town of Idstein is very well preserved and invites you to go for a walk. The center can only be explored on foot and, in addition to beautiful half-timbered houses, it also offers sights such as the historic castle with the witch tower and the residential palace. Large parts of the old town of Idstein are now under monument protection. Many historic buildings have been preserved, among other things, because Idstein was largely spared attacks during the Second World War.
