The current district of Weilrod, which was first mentioned in a document in the 13th century and has approx. 880 inhabitants, is located in the center of the village with its half-timbered houses from the 16th century with its still existing keep, the remains of the city wall of the former castle complex and its winding alley. in the eastern Hintertaunus in the idyllic Weiltal.
If you want, you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view over the Weiltal to Riedelbach on one side and to the Treisberg on the other side, the idyllic town of Altweilnau and the neighboring town of Neuweilnau from the castle's viewing platform (free of charge, 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.) enjoy with the pretty Nassau Castle Neuweilnau.
