The place was mentioned on September 22, 1724 on a memorial stone at the old salt spring in the spa gardens. This is not about founding a place, but about the prerequisite for it. What you assume here regarding the route of the Hermannsweg is quite harsh. The normal route takes a detour from the ridge over the terrace - ok, apparently someone with a commercial interest had influence here. Thanks to Corona, this route is now closed. The path then doesn't stay at the top of the ridge, but instead leads past the tavern all the way down into the valley and up again. For me, this is hard to beat in terms of greed for profit and disrespect for the hikers and should actually lead to a boycott of the pub until they learn it.
