The Great Weir and the Morgenbrodtsthal Graben belong to the Dammgraben system and are thus part of the Upper Harz water system. At the Great Weir, water from the Große Söse and the Morgenbrodtsbach stream flows into the Morgenbrodtsthal Graben, which carries it with only a slight gradient to the Dammgraben, approximately 4 km away.

Located on the Grosser Bode, a junction of many paths and hikes. Our shelters in the Harz National Park are usually located in places worth seeing and are therefore popular hiking destinations. They serve as a short-term rest and break option and as protection in the event of bad weather. Overnight stays are only permitted in an emergency.
