ヘッセンの滝・トップ20

Built in 1612 under Landgrave Moritz I and burned down in October 1923, the former Herrenmühle (a mill for men) is now a hydroelectric power plant and is family-owned. The lock and weir also date back to the time when the Fulda River was developed into a shipping route between Kassel and Bad Hersfeld under Moritz I. Unfortunately, the lock is no longer operational, unlike the ones further downstream.

It's simply wonderful to walk along the babbling Schächerbach stream, among the moss-covered stones and the first spring flowers among the trees. You'll repeatedly cross the stream on stepping stones. For me, this section of the Schächerbach tour is the most beautiful part of the hike.

The old town of Rotenburg has a lot of half-timbered houses and is well preserved. The bridge was suddenly in front of me - somehow it was exciting to see what was waiting on the other side. If you have time, you can explore it.

Beautiful little rock formation, two sizes bigger and you could think you were in Saxon Switzerland.

Great rock formation. Not far from the rocks there is also a hut where you can take a nice break and enjoy nature.

Nice little "tour" where you not only learn about Mr. Leichtweis, but also about the fauna of the cave and how the cave has changed over the years. The tour is free, there is a bucket at the entrance into which you can put a small donation. Above the cave there is a hut where coffee and cake are sold.
