Banz Monastery, also known as the Benedictine Monastery. Built around 1070 by Countess Alberada of Schweinfurt and Count Hermann of Habsberg-Kastl on a former castle site. It was rebuilt around 1700 after the Thirty Years' War. In 1803, the state took over the monastery, and the monks were expelled. (Secularization) Change of ownership: In 1814, Duke Wilhelm of Bavaria acquired the monastery and used it as a summer residence. It thus became a palace. Since 1978, Banz Monastery has served as an educational and meeting center.
