The town fortifications of Weismain represent a significant historical feature of the town. Approximately three-quarters of them are preserved and encircle the historic town center in a striking ring. The construction of the town wall likely took place shortly after Weismain was granted town status in 1313. The core of the current structure dates from the 14th century. In the 15th century, the fortifications were expanded, particularly with the construction of the town moat and its retaining walls. Further renovations and reinforcements were carried out in the 18th century. The wall consists primarily of local sandstone ashlar masonry, which gives the town its characteristic appearance.

The Catholic parish church of the Nativity of Mary in Altenkunstadt is not only a striking building in the Lichtenfels district, but also one of the most historically significant churches in the region. It is considered a so-called original parish, whose roots reach back to the time of Charlemagne. The parish was probably founded as one of the 14 "Slavic churches" that Charlemagne had built in the Main-Regnitz region around the year 800 for the purpose of Christianization. Originally belonging to the Diocese of Würzburg (hence the secondary patronage of St. Kilian), it fell to the Diocese of Bamberg in 1333 and was placed under the authority of the Cistercian monastery of Langheim in 1336. After the Peasants' War, the church was rebuilt between 1525 and 1537 as a late Gothic hall church.

Magnificent nature and numerous scenic attractions characterize the state-recognized resort of Weismain. This small baroque town, also known as the "Gateway to Franconian Switzerland," is located in the Franconian Switzerland-Franconian Jura Nature Park. Sheep-grazed juniper slopes, barren plateaus, shady river valleys, and bizarre cliffs invite visitors to hike and climb. A visit to the Kleinziegenfelder Valley, the Bärental Valley, the Kötteler Grund, or the ascent to the Grosser Kordigast (537 m) are always an experience. From the Görauer Anger, there is a magnificent panoramic view of the Main Valley. In Niesten, it is worth taking a look from the plateau of the castle ruins, as the former seat of the Andechs-Merani family offers a wonderful view of the Jura Mountains. The Weismain and Krassach valleys are home to a diverse landscape of mills, reminiscent of earlier commercial life.

Historic buildings in the old town include a street market established in the early 13th century, well-preserved city fortifications, a Renaissance town hall (1543), the parish church of St. Martin, a market fountain with a Roland statue (1577), half-timbered houses, and the Kastenhof courtyard with the North JURA Museum and tourist information. Weismain is also a convenient starting point for day trips to Banz Abbey, the Vierzehnheiligen Basilica, Coburg, Kulmbach, Bamberg, or Bayreuth, as well as to Franconian Switzerland, the Fichtel Mountains, or the Franconian Forest. Cycling enthusiasts should note Whit Monday: On this day, car-free cycling and hiking can be enjoyed around the Kleinziegenfelder Valley.
