An extensive annual program, changing special exhibitions, weekly tours and much more make the “Haus der Langen Rhön” biosphere center an important address for locals and guests. There is a lot of information material here. Changing special exhibitions address current topics, a public tour takes place every Saturday and a cinema evening with fresh organic popcorn is organized every second or third Tuesday of the month. Today, the facility, under the name “Haus der Langen Rhön Biosphere Center,” contributes to environmental education for locals and tourists. A wide range of topics are addressed: How did the Rhön landscape come about? What is a biosphere reserve anyway? How did elderberry cultivation actually come to the Rhön and why is the Rhön sheep so important? Events: The “Haus der Langen Rhön” biosphere center puts on an extensive annual event program with guided hikes, exhibitions and lectures. Every Saturday at 1:30 p.m. there is a public tour of the exhibition, including a small drink. Every second or third Tuesday of the month there is a cinema evening on relevant socio-political or environmental topics. Organic popcorn is available to go with it! From May to October there are guided themed hikes in the Rhön every Sunday and there are also guided tours of the Black Moor at 10:00 a.m. All information can be found at www.oberelsbach-rhoen.de. The Roman Catholic Chapel of St. Gangolf is a listed church building in Fladungen. The chapel was rebuilt in 1597 to replace a chapel that was demolished during the Reformation. The hall church consists of a nave covered with a gable roof, to which a semicircular, two-storey apse covered with a polygonal tent roof adjoins to the east, on top of which sits a hexagonal, slate-covered ridge turret covered with a bell dome. Behind its sound arcades hangs the church bell, which is operated from the upper floor of the apse. The portal and two bull's eyes are located on the south side of the nave. In front of the chapel there is a cemetery cross with assistant figures, 1774, also station XII of the Way of the Cross to the Gangolf Chapel
