The beautiful large oak, also known as the English oak or German oak, stands in the middle of the market square ("Alter Markt") in the island town of Werder. It is a natural monument, protected under nature conservation law, and accordingly bears the Kretschmann owl in the yellow nature conservation symbol ("owl in a pentagon"). Since it stands isolated in the middle of the market square, it can be viewed from all angles.
