The Alt Brenz village church was built in 1881 in the neo-Gothic style according to plans by court architect Krüger. It features a striking west tower with a copper-covered spire and a polygonal choir apse. The church's interior is simple, with white painted blind panels and neo-Gothic furnishings. Particularly noteworthy is the altarpiece, featuring a painting by Carl Suhrland depicting Christ carrying the cross. The church is surrounded by a spacious cemetery and stands in the immediate vicinity of the historic rectory.

According to legend, there are seven boys who once looked after the horses of the Spornitz farmers and played skittles with sausages and balls made of breadcrumbs to pass the time. As punishment, they were turned to stone. When the Spornitz miller used one of the stones for his garden wall, it began to bleed.
