Mirow Castle Island reflects the history of the Dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. The island features the 17th-century Baroque residential palace, the Renaissance gatehouse, the Cavalier's House, and the Church of St. John with its ducal crypt, together forming an impressive testament to regional architecture and the history of the dukes. Immediately north of the castle island lies Lovers' Island, accessible via a wrought-iron bridge, which contains the tomb of the last Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, giving the site a special historical and romantic significance. Nestled in the picturesque lake district of Mecklenburg Lake District, the castle island offers a rewarding destination for cycling tours and nature experiences in the surrounding area.

It is worth climbing the tower of the castle church - from here you have a fantastic photo view of the waters of the Kleinseenplatte: Lake Mirow, Granzower Möschen, etc.
