Hello Güstrow

The Teterow Pike Fountain is an ornamental fountain erected in 1914 on the market square in Teterow and a popular landmark of the town. Designed by the sculptor Wilhelm Wandschneider, it commemorates the legend of the "great-great-grandfather." The pike legend tells of a particularly large pike that the people of Teterow caught in the lake. It was as big as a grown man's leg. To keep the pike fresh, a bell was tied around its neck and it was thrown back into the water. The bell was supposed to indicate the pike's location. However, this didn't work, and the pike was eventually carved in stone and placed on the market square. The traditional Pike Festival takes place annually in Teterow on the weekend before Pentecost. The highlight is the performance of the Schildbürgerstreiche (Schildbürgerstreiche) by Teterow amateur artists.

The connection between Malchin and Remplin runs along a busy road on a separate, well-maintained cycle path. The view over the moorland meadows is spectacular depending on the lighting conditions. On the Berlin-Copenhagen cycle path east of Lake Krakow near the small town of Neu Dobbin, the observation tower at the former milking parlor invites you to linger. The observation tower "Paradiesgartenblick am alten Melkstand" offers fascinating views of the Krakow lake landscape and is located between the towns of Neu Zietlitz and Neu Dobbin. In 2010, Wilfried Baldermann, mayor of Dobbin-Linstow, inaugurated the observation tower with its wonderful view of Lake Krakow and the landscape. The observation platform owes its nickname "Am alten Melkstand" to the fact that cows were still milked here until 1969.
