Old Town Magazine: After the war, Karl Planeth volunteered to clear rubble, design, and maintain the area north and east of St. Peter's Church, especially the path below the city wall between Slüterstraße and Bagehl. For several years, the Association for the Promotion of the Eastern Old Town, together with the family members, has fought to have the newly constructed path named "Karl-Planeth-Weg." On November 5, 2010, the time finally came. The path along the city wall was given its name, "Karl-Planeth-Weg." John Brinckman is one of the important writers who wrote their works in their native Low German, alongside Klaus Groth (1819–1899) and Fritz Reuter (1810–1874). In his hometown of Rostock, not only a fountain and a street were named in his honor, but also an entire district, Brinckmansdorf.
