この道路は、1950年代にDDR時代の威信をかけたプロジェクトとして再建されました。特筆すべきは、ここでは退屈なプレハブ住宅ではなく、北ドイツのレンガ造りのゴシック様式を引用した社会主義的クラシシズムが採用されたことです。壮麗な破風と赤いレンガは、歴史的な街並みに驚くほど調和して溶け込んでいます。
