Good hiking trails around the lake

Himmelbjerget rises between the towns of Ry and Silkeborg. Until more precise surveys were carried out in 1847, the 147-meter-high mountain was considered Denmark's highest point. From its summit, you have a magnificent view over Lake Jul. The view is particularly good from the 25-meter-high observation tower.

From here, you have a fantastic view of the idyllic Slåensø lake. A pleasant forest path leads you along the shore.

Great starting point for hikes or mountain bike tours.

A nice little campsite right on the junction from Julsø to Brassø. There are no parceled out tent sites, where there is space you can pitch your tent. The area is great for hiking, mountain biking and paddling.

Great campsite by the river. Nice facilities and a diner too. You can be ferried to the other side of the river. Just ask in the information (do cost a bit)
