Great campsite. We were here with our rooftop tent to start two short tours from here.

Near the village of Meeuwen stands De Witte Molen: the pride of the village! The round stone ground corn mill was built in 1740. At the beginning of the 20th century it was the first mill in the region to be equipped with so-called streamlined sails: this increased the efficiency of the mill. There was a time in the previous century that the mill no longer ground, but after a restoration it has been in use again since 1995.

Jan van Drongelen built this castle in 1350, which came into the possession of Jan van Heusden. Count Willem IV claimed the castle after his death. The white mill is a round stone ground sailor from 1740. In 1996 the mill was restored in the old style after 50 years of inactivity.

It is a reminder of her 2012 Olympic victory in London. The artwork took the form of a tiara, a kind of crown. In it he incorporated the bicycles that Vos brought to where she is now thirteen-time world champion, starting with the bicycle with which she went to school as a child. The wheels of the bicycles form the bottom rings of the Olympic logo. The artwork was given a place at Meeuwen because Vos lived there at the time. That roundabout also has an exit to Babyloniënbroek, the village where Vos was born and now lives again. The cyclist has been unable to race for almost a year due to an injury and overtraining. Last weekend she drove her first race in Drenthe again. She hopes to be far enough in mid-April to join the regular program so that she is in top shape at the Olympic Games in Brazil
