🌿 Lake Narlay: Essential Information Location: Frasnois municipality, in the Lakes Region (Jura). Altitude: 748 m. Surface area: 41 ha. Depth: Up to 40 m, making it the deepest lake in the Jura. The Baume-les-Messieurs cave was first explored by Paul Vernier in 1610, but he only explored the first quarter of the cave. It wasn't until more than two centuries later, in 1893, that exploration resumed, thanks in part to the French speleologist Alfred Martel (who discovered the Gouffre de Padirac). The first guided tours took place at the beginning of the 20th century, around 1903.

A former, unlit railway tunnel with a length of 180 meters. A flashlight is extremely helpful here, as there are quite large stones in some places that are invisible in the dark.
