Since 1983, the old town of Nessebar, with its fortifications, churches, and historic residential buildings, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nessebar also preserves numerous historic secular buildings, including approximately 80 buildings built during the Bulgarian National Revival in the 19th century. These houses belong to the so-called "Black Sea type." The basement was constructed of thick stone walls, while the upper floors were built of wood. The bus to Sunny Beach costs 2 leva, payable in cash on the bus. The boat costs 15 leva. There are various tickets for the museums, e.g., 4 churches + windmill costs 13 leva, and the all-inclusive ticket costs 35 leva.

A lovely spot with benches and tables for relaxing and stunning views of Sunny Beach and Nessebar. An absolute must-see in the area. The place isn't easy to reach due to the steep hiking trail, but it's worth it.

A cross-domed church with three altar niches and a narthex (portico). Its total length is 12 m and its width is 10 m. The structure consists of a cross vault with a drum dome on top. The building is constructed of river stone and rubble, and the facades were probably smooth plastered. The church dates back to the 10th century.

A single-nave church with a gabled roof and an apse. It was built and painted in 1609. At that time, the eastern part of the church was half-sunk into the ground. The church is dedicated to the Ascension of Christ. Particularly valuable are the preserved wall paintings, whose subjects depict scenes from the lives of Mary and Christ. For centuries, the tombstone of the Byzantine princess Mataissa Kantakuzena Palaiologina was embedded in the church floor.

It is simply beautiful in the Bulgarian mountains on the Black Sea coast! But you should go hiking in the evening or when the weather is not too hot.
