Experience nature on the prehistoric boardwalk in the Aschener/Heeder Moor. On the approximately 1 km long and 1.5 to 3 meter wide boardwalk, equipped with information panels, you can learn about the three-year excavations at the nearby PR 6 (historical boardwalk) as well as about the moorland landscape. A "moorland trail," which follows the original route of the boardwalk, allows you to trace its course along the already rewetted moorland areas. At the end, a viewing platform on a "peat-free area" that has never been harvested offers a beautiful view across the moor. This creates a unique experience that conveys cultural and natural heritage. Benches invite you to linger.

The South Lohne Moor is a wonderful natural experience. My highlights were the singing bluethroats and the strange calls of the nightjars.

The Moorweg in the Aschener Moor, abbreviated in technical terms to Pr VI, is a prehistoric moor path that was originally 4.2 km long and runs through the Aschener Moor west of Aschen in the Diepholz district of Lower Saxony. It was probably built in the pre-Roman Iron Age around 46 BC and is one of the longest plank paths in northwest Germany.[1] The path construction has been preserved to this day due to the favorable preservation conditions for organic material in the moor. Large parts of the path have been destroyed by mechanical peat extraction up to the present day. A remnant of around 350 meters in the subsoil of an untouched moor area has been permanently preserved in the center of the moor. At the edge of the path, a 950 m long barrier-free footbridge with a viewing platform built between 2019 and 2021 runs along the course of the former moor path. It is intended to make the prehistoric moor path and the moor accessible to tourists.

The boardwalk into the moor is a very cool section of the trail. The landscape, which is characterized by peat mining, has something apocalyptic about it in gloomy weather.
