The Col du Calvaire (1144 m) is a mountain pass in the Vosges that connects Le Valtin to Orbey in Alsace. Situated on the Route des Crêtes, between the Col du Bonhomme and the Col de la Schlucht, this pass offers magnificent views of Lac Blanc and the surrounding peaks. The name refers to an old Calvary that once stood above the lake. During the First World War, the German front line ran along this pass, which also gives the place a historical charge. In winter, the pass is part of the Lac Blanc ski area and is partly closed to traffic.

The village is known for its traditional half-timbered houses, narrow streets and especially the unique twisted tower of the Saint-Gall-et-Saint-Wendelin church – a rare architectural phenomenon in the region. Niedermorschwihr is also home to the famous “jam queen” Christine Ferber, whose preserves are loved worldwide. Thanks to its location on the Route des Vins, it is an atmospheric and authentic stop on a cycle route through Alsace.

Trois-Épis is a small, historic place of pilgrimage in the Vosges, situated on a mountainside above Alsace. The village was founded in the 15th century after an apparition of Mary and has developed into a spiritual place with a serene atmosphere. Above the village stands the monumental statue of Christ by Le Galtz, erected in 1930 to commemorate the reunification of Alsace with France. From here you have an impressive view of the Alsace plain, the Black Forest and, in clear weather, even the Alps.

Communities from Germany, France and Belgium that have or had a connection to Lazarus von Schwendi joined together in 1986 in Kientzheim to form the Lazarus von Schwendi Association of Cities in order to pass on and promote the humanistic spirit, clarity and tolerance that he practiced. Kaysersberg later joined the association of cities. Representatives of the communities meet annually in one of the member towns to meet and exchange ideas.
