The Martinière canal is no longer used and is a haven of nature and a quiet hike. The canal was used for the passage of merchant ships and the launching of new ships from the shipyard. The canal was built between 1882 and 1892 with some of the materials used for the construction of the Suez Canal. A great place for a waterside run.

Ten years of pharaonic work for a canal which ultimately only served twenty years. Beautiful place for walks and a great classic for cycling between Nantes and the ocean.

I couldn't shake the stone, but you can try :-) Peaceful site on the banks of the Acheneau River. Wet in wet weather.

Always accessible from the town of Cheix-en-Retz. But be careful, the next part of the circuit can be flooded in winter.
