The former Cistercian monastery has the most beautiful name and is the oldest church. The monastery was a second foundation by Heinrich Borwin I. The original site was Parchow near Neubukow. The monastery was rebuilt and finally established in 1249. Initially a Benedictine monastery, it became Cistercian in 1249.

In 1233, Bernitt was first mentioned as a village belonging to Rühn Monastery. The municipality's coat of arms depicts a crossed hoe and abbot's staff, surrounded by three apples and a plowshare – a reference to the village's agricultural origins and its former affiliation with Rühn Monastery. The church is a three-part fieldstone building with a chancel, nave, and octagonal tower – similar to that in Neukirchen. It was built around 1240–1280, but the tower was added in the 15th century.
